2 NY state hospitals come together to improve care access: 4 things to know

Rome (N.Y.) Memorial Hospital and St. Joseph’s Health in Syracuse, N.Y., affiliated. The affiliation aims “to expand patient access to needed services in the community,” according to a news release.

Here are four things to know.

1. In the release, RMH and St. Joseph’s said the two entities have already made efforts to establish a regional integrated healthcare delivery network. For instance, they said, RMH and its affiliated physician practices joined St. Joseph’s ACO and clinically integrated network.

2. “St. Joseph’s Health shares our commitment to providing patients with high-quality, patient-centered care that is coordinated and easily accessible,” RMH President and CEO David Lundquist said in the release. “The signing of the affiliation agreement provides the principles for RMH to work together with St. Joseph’s Health in collaboration to deliver the highest level of quality healthcare services to meet the needs of our patients.”

3. Under the affiliation, RMH will remain independent.

4. Completion of the affiliation comes less than a year after the two organization announced the plans.
