2 Iowa hospitals combine operations

Mercy Medical Center-Des Moines has completed its acquisition of Skiff Medical Center in Newton, Iowa.

The two organizations announced Skiff would become a member of Mercy Medical Center in May, and now the transaction is complete.

“We welcome members of the Skiff Medical Center to the Mercy Family,” said Mercy President Bob Ritz. “As a vital part of the Newton community, we look forward to helping improve access to specialty services and providing a remarkable patient experience for everyone we have the privilege to serve.”

Skiff CEO Brett Altman shared Mr. Ritz’s enthusiasm about the partnership. “We believe there are wonderful opportunities to improve the access and availability of care close to home through this integration,” he said.
