1. Methodist Hospital (New Orleans). The city of New Orleans officially acquired Methodist Hospital from Universal Health Services for $16.25 million.
2. Stevens Hospital (Edmonds, Wash.). Washington state regulators approved plans for Seattle-based Swedish Health Services to lease and operate hospital district-owned Steven Hospital in Edmonds, Wash.
3. St. Joseph’s Hospital & Arnot Ogden Medical Center (Elmira, N.Y.). St. Joseph’s Hospital & Arnot Ogden Medical Center, both in Elmira, N.Y., signed a letter of intent to explore a merger.
4. Prospect Medical Holdings (Los Angeles). Prospect Medical Holdings, a Los Angeles-based managed care provider, which operates five hospitals, agreed to be acquired by Leonard Green & Partners, a private equity firm and members of the company’s own management team for $205 million.
5. Forum Health (Youngstown, Ohio). A U.S. Bankruptcy approved the sale of Youngstown, Ohio-based Forum Health to Community Health Systems for $120 million.
6. Arizona Heart Hospital (Phoenix). Vanguard Health Systems will acquire the assets of Arizona Heart Hospital in Phoenix from MedCath Corp. for $32 million.
7. Llano (Texas) Memorial Healthcare System. The board of directors overseeing Llano (Texas) Memorial Healthcare System signed a resolution to sell its assets and debt to Temple, Texas-based Scott & White Healthcare.
8. Johns Community Hospital (Taylor, Texas). Johns Community Hospital in Taylor, Texas, will merge with Temple, Texas-based Scott & White Healthcare and will be renamed Scott & White Hospital – Taylor.
9. West Suburban Medical Center (Oak Park, Ill.) & West Lake Hospital (Melrose Park, Ill.). Vanguard Health Systems completed the acquisition of two Resurrection Health Care hospitals — West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, Ill., and West Lake Hospital in Melrose Park, Ill. for $45 million.
10. RMH Healthcare (Harrisonburg, Va.). RMH Healthcare in Harrisonburg, Va., agreed to affiliate with Sentara Healthcare in Norfolk, Va.
11. St. Joseph’s Hospital (Bangor, Maine). Felician Sisters has announced it will transfer ownership of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bangor, Maine, to Covenant Health Systems, based in Lexington, Mass.
12. Wuesthoff Health System (Rockledge, Fla.). Rockledge, Fla.-based non-profit Wuesthoff Health System agreed to sell its assets to Naples, Fla.-based Health Management Associates for $145 million.
13. All Children’s Hospital & Health System (St. Petersburg, Fla.). Johns Hopkins Medicine and All Children’s Hospital & Health System of St. Petersburg, Fla., signed a letter of intent to integrate.
14. Marquette (Mich.) General Hospital & Bell Hospital (Ishpeming, Mich.). Marquette (Mich.) General Hospital and Bell Hospital in Ishpeming, Mich., formally affiliated to form Superior Health Partners.
15. Fort Hamilton Hospital (Hamilton, Ohio). Fort Hamilton Hospital in Hamilton, Ohio, officially joined Dayton, Ohio-based Kettering Health Network.
