1. UCSF Health, Sonoma Valley Hospital ink affiliation agreement: 5 things to know
San Francisco-based UCSF Health and Sonoma (Calif.) Valley Hospital signed an affiliation agreement March 1 to create an integrated healthcare network.

2. Columbus Regional finalizes merger with Piedmont Healthcare
Atlanta-based Piedmont Healthcare officially integrated Columbus (Ga.) Regional Health March 1, making Piedmont a 10-hospital system.

3. Ardent finalizes joint venture with U of Texas to acquire Texas health system
Nashville, Tenn.-based Ardent Health Services and Tyler, Texas-based UT Health Northeast finalized their joint purchase of East Texas Medical Center Regional Healthcare System, also in Tyler, March 1.

4. Atrium Health suspends merger negotiations with UNC Health Care
Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health issued a statement March 2 stating the health system has suspended merger discussions with Chapel Hill, N.C.-based UNC Health Care.

5. South Carolina lawmakers craft deal to privatize Greenville Health System
State officials announced a tentative deal March 1 that would restructure Greenville (S.C.) Health System into a private nonprofit, effectively ending discussions about a potential sale of the system.

6. Yale New Haven Health ends partnership talks with Rhode Island hospital
Yale New Haven (Conn.) Health and Wakefield, R.I.-based South County Hospital broke off partnership discussions Feb. 27.

7. Why this Georgia health system is transitioning into a nonprofit
The Hospital Authority of Tift County, which operates Tifton, Ga.-based Tift Regional Health System, unanimously voted Feb. 21 to restructure the health system into a charitable nonprofit.

8. South Georgia Medical Center terminates affiliation with Clinch Memorial
Valdosta-based South Georgia Medical Center and Homerville, Ga.-based Clinch Memorial Hospital terminated their affiliation Feb. 26 after roughly 18 years.

9. Vanderbilt University Medical Center partners with U of Mississippi Medical Center
Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanderbilt University Medical Center signed a partnership with Jackson-based University of Mississippi Medical Center Feb. 26.

10. Quorum Health sells 70-bed Illinois hospital
Brentwood, Tenn.-based Quorum Health completed the sale of 70-bed Vista Medical Center West in Waukegan, Ill., to New York City-based US HealthVest on March 1.

11. Tenet continues hospital sell-off spree with deals in Illinois, Texas
Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare divested a Chicago-area hospital and sold its minority interest in four Texas hospitals.

12. Partners, Care New England approach Lifespan to form partnership
Boston-based Partners HealthCare and Providence, R.I.-based Care New England approached Lifespan, also in Providence, Feb. 27 to begin discussions on how the three providers may work together to improve healthcare delivery in Rhode Island.
