1. Sound Shore Medical Center Seeks Larger Hospital Partner
Sound Shore Medical Center in New Rochelle, N.Y., is considering a partnership with one of four larger, regional hospitals.

2. Skaggs Regional Medical Center in Missouri Approves Integration With CoxHealth
Branson, Mo.-based Skaggs Regional Medical Center’s board of directors and Springfield, Mo.-based CoxHealth’s trustees agreed to partner.

3. Elk Regional Health System in Pennsylvania Approves Merger With Penn Highlands
St. Mary’s, Pa.-based Elk Regional Health System’s board of directors approved and signed an affiliation agreement with Penn Highlands Healthcare in DuBois, Pa.

4. Rutherford Regional in North Carolina Considers Affiliation With Mission Health
Rutherford Regional Health System in Rutherfordton, N.C., is negotiating a non-binding memorandum of understanding for an affiliation with Mission Health in Asheville, N.C.

5. University of Louisville Hospital Partnership Search Drags on

Officials at the University of Louisville (Ky.) Hospital extended the Sept. 28 request for proposals deadline in their search for a partner.  

6. Lakeland Regional Medical Center’s Board Approves USF Health System Affiliation

The board of directors for Lakeland (Fla.) Regional Medical Center and its parent Lakeland Regional Health System voted to join Tampa-based University of South Florida’s new health system.

7. Sinai Health, Holy Cross Hospital in Chicago to Merge
Holy Cross Hospital and Sinai Health System, both based in Chicago, signed a letter of intent to merge.  

8. Tufts Medical Center, Vanguard Health Systems Announce Joint Venture
Boston-based Tufts Medical Center, Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanguard Health Systems and the New England Quality Care Alliance — a non-profit physician network of Tufts with 1,600 physicians —entered into a period of exclusive negotiations to create a new health system in Massachusetts.  

9. NorthShore University HealthSystem Joins Mayo Clinic Care Network
Evanston, Ill.-based NorthShore University HealthSystem joined the Mayo Clinic Care Network to provide NorthShore patients with access to medical resources and experts from both systems.  

10. Emory Healthcare, Southern Regional Health Reach Management Deal

The Southern Regional Health System in Riverdale, Ga., reached a management services agreement with Emory Healthcare in Atlanta.
