6. In 1855, United Hospital opened as Christ Church Orphan’s Home and Hospital. The hospital’s name was later changed to Saint Luke’s Hospital. In 1972, Saint Luke’s merged with Charles T. Miller Hospital and was renamed United Hospital. In 1976, ground was broken to build a new facility, and four years later it was dedicated as United Hospital.
