St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit is a teaching hospital affiliated with Wayne State University and is part of the Warren, Mich.-based St. John Providence Health System.

1. Dan Brooks was recently named CEO of St. John Hospital and Medical Center, effective January 2013.

3. The hospital has 772 beds.

4. St. John Hospital and Medical Center has more than 1,300 active medical staff members.

5. The hospital recorded $1.7 billion in gross revenue and a net income of $29.8 million in 2010, as reported by the American Hospital Directory.

6. St. John Hospital and Medical Center discharged a total of 31,081 patients in 2011. The hospital performed 10,100 inpatient and 17,500 outpatient surgeries as well as 3,000 births last year. Additionally, the hospital had 174,300 outpatient visits.

7. St. John Hospital and Medical Center has been named a Blue Distinction Center in cardiovascular and orthopedic care from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and the Blue Care Network.

8. The hospital was founded in 1952.

9. In October, St. John Hospital and Medical Center opened a new pediatric burn treatment room.

10. The Elaine E. Blatt Endoscopy Center at St. John Hospital and Medical Center opened in September 2012.
