Nearly 1,000 physicians, hospital administrators, government leaders and students gathered for the building’s formal grand opening Tuesday.
Officials said all 2,000 faculty, staff and students will officially begin using the building for coursework and clinical studies when the spring semester begins Jan. 8.
University officials also recruited 100 physicians, scientists and medical specialists to pioneer research at the facility.
The state contributed more than $56 million to build the facility, according to the report.
