Two residency programs stand out from the crowd: University of California, San Francisco places in the top 10 for 16 specialties, and Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md., is in the top 10 across 14 specialties, according to the first-ever comprehensive national evaluation of residency programs.

Doximity, a physician network, and U.S. News & World Report teamed up to compile the rankings. Doximity evaluated 3,691 residency programs by combining more than 50,000 peer nominations from more than 17,000 U.S. physicians. U.S. News & World Report consulted on the methodology. The result is a ranking of residency programs across 20 specialties.
