Police discover remains of 74-year-old North Dakota physician who went missing 3 years ago

Gallatin County, Mont., search and rescue teams uncovered the remains of a 74-year-old North Dakota physician April 28, nearly three years after he was declared missing, according to NBC Montana.

Searchers found the remains of Patrick J. Fitzpatrick, MD, an ophthalmologist, near the area where his vehicle was initially discovered in July 2015, according to a press release from the county obtained by NBC Montana.

The sheriff's office conducted a second search in March 2017. Last month, search and rescue teams conducted a third search, reviewing the areas near where officials discovered Dr. Fitzpatrick's vehicle. A bloodhound uncovered the ophthalmologist's remains approximately 1 mile east of where officials found the vehicle.

Dr. Fitzpatrick was last seen at a bank in Bozeman, Mont., in July 2015. Police said May 3 there was no indication of foul play, according to the report.
