4 Harvard Medical School physicians elected to National Academy of Sciences

Four Boston-based Harvard Medical School physician researchers were among the 84 members and 21 foreign associates elected to the National Academy of Sciences for 2018, the organization announced May 1.

The four Harvard Medical School recruits are:

  • Daniel A. Haber, MD, PhD, the Kurt J. Isselbacher Professor of Oncology in the department of medicine
  • Dennis L. Kasper, MD, the William Ellery Channing Professor of Medicine in the department of medicine
  • Arlene H. Sharpe, MD, PhD, the George Fabyan Professor of Comparative Pathology and interim co-chair of the department of microbiology and immunobiology
  • Christopher A. Walsh, MD, PhD, the Bullard Professor of Pediatrics and Neurology in the department of pediatrics

Three other Harvard University scientists were also named to the nonprofit organization, which was chartered in 1863. The organization is tasked with advising federal officials on scientific and technological issues. Scientists are elected to NAS by their peers.
