A couple at the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit recently received a call by an unidentified man who the new parents assumed was associated with the hospital. The man asked a few personal questions before asking the mother questions of a sexual nature.
These calls have been a problem at the hospital for some time, officials report. The hospital first started receiving these calls a year ago, but they briefly stopped after investigators began looking into them.
“The privacy and safety of our patients is of the utmost importance, and we have taken aggressive measures to prevent further unwanted calls to our patients,” the hospital said in a statement, according to KSAT. “The San Antonio Police Department is working with us to identify the person or persons responsible for this inappropriate behavior. We continue to be vigilant and proactive in safeguarding those we serve.”
