Here are five things to know about Dr. DeMatteo.
1. Dr. DeMatteo is a surgical oncologist. He spent the past 20 years at New York City-based Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where he most recently served as the vice chair of the department of surgery and head of the division of general surgical oncology.
2. His clinical and laboratory research has been published in the Lancet, Lancet Oncology, Nature Medicine and the Journal of Clinical Investigation, among others.
3. Dr. DeMatteo’s research has garnered more than $17 million in funding, including grants from the National Institutes of Health.
4. He received his undergraduate degree in natural sciences from Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins University and received his medical degree from New York City-based Weil Cornell Medical College.
5. Dr. DeMatteo completed his surgical residency and postdoctoral fellowship at Penn Medicine.
