North Carolina pilots primary care fellowship

A pilot project called MedServe is giving college graduates a hands-on learning experience in the hopes it will inspire more future physicians to go into primary care.

According to a Valley News report, MedServe offers high-potential students two-year fellowships in primary care practices across North Carolina. It currently has 13 fellows in the program, according to the report.

Fellows are given two weeks of training and then dispatched to clinics in medically underserved communities to help meet human capital needs. Through the program, they have the opportunity to learn about the clinical role of primary care physicians and the role they play in the local healthcare system.
