Match Day 2019 for medical students today

Medical students will discover the residency programs they were placed into on national "Match Day" on March 15.

On March 15, students will open envelopes at 12 p.m. EST indicating the medical school they were placed into to complete their residency program, according to a report from Scope, which is run by Stanford (Calif.) Medicine.

The match process is determined by a computer algorithm managed by the National Residency Matching Program, which sorts through students' list of residency programs and aligns their preferences with the students selected by each residency program director.

Students learned they were officially matched into a program on March 11, but will discover the exact program March 15.
