Kentucky physicians unsure what medical condition caused boy to sleep for 11 days

Louisville, Ky.-based Norton Children's Hospital physicians do not know what caused a 7-year-old boy to sleep for 11 days, according to USA Today.

Roughly 48 hours after attending a wedding two weeks ago, Wyatt Shaw found himself unable to stay awake and was transported to Norton Children's.

Hospital physicians ran numerous tests and blood work. However, all the results came back negative. After spending 10 days unconscious at the hospital, officials gave Wyatt a seizure medication that caused him to wake up Oct. 12 , the report states.

Wyatt's mother said her son "was just having electric misfires in his brain and it was just causing [Wyatt] to stay in constant sleep," according to the report.

When he woke up, Wyatt couldn't move or speak. However, the boy has since made strides in his recovery.

Once discharged from Norton Children's, Wyatt will reportedly spend three weeks at Louisville-based KentuckyOne Health-Frazier Rehab Institute, according to the report.
