Approximately 80 high school students from across central Pennsylvania attended the event, which was funded by “thousands of dollars from local businesses,” according to the report. Throughout the event, students were taught how to use various medical instruments and participated in CPR classes.

Geisinger officials said the event was meant to raise awareness “of what is available in terms of careers in the healthcare field,” according to The Daily Item.

Officials said they hope to make the experience an annual event and showcase various other departments integral to running a functioning hospital, The Daily Item reports.
