Kaiser Permanente CEO Predicts Success for Private ACOs

George Halvorson, chairman and CEO of Kaiser Permanente, has said he thinks there will be “a lot of energy” in the healthcare arena towards commercial accountable care organizations, according to a Kaiser Health News report.

In the interview, Mr. Halvorson said the Medicare ACO rules weren’t drafted as well as they could have been, resulting in declined participation..It’s the third ACO option that has garnered Mr. Halvorson’s confidence. He said care systems are more interested in commercial ACOs, in which insurers work with caregivers to create team care.
