David Scarpino, president of HealthAlliance, clarified the relationship will be an affiliation, not a merger, according to the report.

“We are, in principle, done and we are going to try to do it as quickly as we can,” said Mr. Scarpino, according to the report. “We have been working on it in the background, just waiting for the [state grant] to be announced, so we are pretty far along. It could be pretty quick.”

Last week, HealthAlliance was awarded an $88.8 million state grant to construct a new emergency room, as well as other improvements to its Mary’s Avenue hospital. It also plans to transform the system’s Broadway campus into a “medical village,” according to the report.
