Bonita Stanton, MD, has been named founding dean of the yet-to-be-named medical school, a joint effort between South Orange, N.J.-based Seton Hall University and Hackensack (N.J.) University Health Network.
Dr. Stanton is an expert in pediatric medicine and maternal health. Most recently, she has served as vice dean of research at Detroit-based Wayne State University School of Medicine. She has also worked as an associate chairwoman of the Division of General Pediatrics at Baltimore-based University of Maryland.
The medical school, which will operate on the former campus of pharmaceutical company Hoffmann-La Roche, is set to enroll its first class of students in 2018.
