Creighton University to revamp medical campus 2 states away for $100M

Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., revealed plans to construct a new health sciences campus to replace its existing infrastructure in Phoenix for roughly $100 million.

Here are three things to know:

1. The project will expand the university's physical presence in Phoenix through the construction of a 200,000-square-foot building, which will house a four-year medical school, nursing school, occupational and physical therapy schools, pharmacy school, physician assistant school, and emergency medical services program. Officials said they may add a second building in the future.

2. Construction on the new building is scheduled to begin in spring 2019 and be completed in spring 2021.

3. Creighton University opened its medical school in Phoenix in 2009.
