Police said the single engine plane crashed around 11 a.m., killing both 65-year-old Michael Graver, MD, and his wife, Jodi Cohen, 52.
The Middlesex District Attorney said Dr. Graver was a “very experienced pilot” and co-owned the plane, the report states. The couple had been heading to Laurence G. Hanscom Field in Bedford, Mass., to meet their son, who was attending a conference in Massachusetts.
The airport is roughly 4 miles from the crash site, according to the report. The National Transportation Safety Board and other agencies are investigating the incident.
Dr. Graver was a cardiothoracic surgeon at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, N.Y.
Alan Hartman, MD, senior vice president and executive director of cardiothoracic services at Northwell Health, which oversees the hospital, told the television station Dr. Graver “was an outstanding surgeon and a great guy.”
