Through one initiative, Clemson students will be able to graduate in three years and apply for admission to programs in medicine, dentistry, physical therapy and public health, among others.
The universities also teamed up on a joint doctoral program aimed at promoting the biomedical data and science informatics field, a discipline concerning the use of health-related data for research, clinical care and health management purposes. Students enrolled in the program will take classes at both universities and receive diplomas with each school’s seal at the end of their studies.
“Clemson and MUSC each play vital roles in providing greater opportunities for top students in South Carolina and in improving the health outcomes in the state. These groundbreaking agreements address both issues,” said Clemson University President James Clements, PhD. “Clemson is proud to be the first university in the state to partner with MUSC on so many accelerated degrees and a joint PhD program that is on the leading edge of healthcare innovation and informatics.”
