Alexian acquires primary care group in Chicago suburbs

Arlington Heights-based Alexian Brothers Health System expanded its base of primary care providers with the Feb. 1 acquisition of The Medical Care Group, a local physician practice of 20 internists and pediatricians.

The Medical Care Group, which will be renamed as Alexian Brothers Medical Care Group, operates an Independent Physician Association and has six locations in the Chicago suburbs with offices in Elk Grove Village, Hoffman Estates, Arlington Heights and Skokie.

The acquisition is Alexian Brothers’ largest primary care acquisition to date. It brings its total number of primary care physicians up to 74 and its total number of physicians up to more than 200. It now operates 28 primary care locations in the Chicago area.
