EMH Healthcare in Ohio Cuts 55 Positions

EMH Healthcare, based in Elyria, Ohio, announced that it will cut 55 positions across the health system, with most of those cuts affecting EMH Elyria Medical Center, according to a Chronicle-Telegram report.

Twenty-five of the job cuts are from the elimination of vacant positions. The remaining 30 job cuts affected employees from non-clinical departments, including radiology, home healthcare, accounting and others. Affected employees will receive a severance package, though up to 10 employees could be hired back into currently vacant positions, according to the report.

The job cuts were enacted in response to declining reimbursements and increasing volumes of charity care.
