This grant, awarded to assist in the modernization project, will allow the hospital to use $1 million from bond sale funds to buy new medical equipment. The hospital sold a $33 million municipal bond, $6 million of which paid for the 2009 Cathcart Health Center. The remaining funds will be used to modernize the facility. West Park Hospital has also budgeted $4 million for capital equipment.

The hospital has completed about half of the construction project and plans to finish the second half by next fall. The new facility will include an emergency department, lab, radiology, patient rooms and other medical services.
