Reese Jackson, former president and CEO of Chesapeake (Va.) Regional Healthcare, was terminated without cause May 30, the Chesapeake Hospital Authority Board, the governing board of the system, confirmed in a June 25 statement shared with Becker’s.
The confirmation comes weeks after the health system announced Mr. Jackson’s departure without disclosing the circumstances surrounding his exit. The Virginian-Pilot first reported that board documents showed Mr. Jackson had been terminated without cause and would receive an undisclosed severance.
Amber Egyud, DNP, RN, was appointed interim CEO, effective immediately. She joined Chesapeake Regional in 2017 as COO and chief nursing officer and has led several major initiatives, including development of the health system’s critical care tower and cancer treatment center, achievement of Magnet designation and operational leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the statement.
Chesapeake Regional Healthcare operates Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, an independent, community-based hospital serving the Hampton Roads region.
The board said it would not disclose the terms of Mr. Jackson’s severance agreement, citing a Virginia law exempting certain personnel records from public disclosure.
