Tennova spokesperson Leigh Dunlap did not specify the number of affected employees or their positions. Direct patient care positions were not affected.
“Several department leadership roles were recently consolidated to better coordinate services and the transitions between our metro Knoxville hospitals and clinics,” Ms. Dunlap said. “As part of our long-term planning, we have worked to identify opportunities for each individual and regret the impact on any who we were not able to place. We are committed to strengthening our organization to serve the community for the future.”
In January, Tennova announced plans to “reconfigure” services at its three Knoxville area hospitals — Physicians Regional Medical Center, Tennova North Knoxville Medical Center and Knoxville-based Tennova Turkey Creek Medical Knoxville — and abandon its proposal to build a $303.5 million replacement hospital in Knoxville.
