James “Jim” Bierman, former president and CEO of Owens & Minor, a Mechanicsville, Va.-based healthcare logistics company, was appointed lead director of the board.

“We welcome Jim as the company’s lead director. Jim’s significant leadership experience having previously served as CEO of one large public company and CFO of two large public companies make him an exceptional fit for this role. Having served on our board since 2010, he knows our company very well. He has also chaired our audit committee for nearly six years, a position he will continue to hold,” Lynn Massingale, MD, cofounder and executive chairman of TeamHealth, said in a statement.

The physician services organization also announced the appointments of two new Class I directors. These include Scott Ostfeld, partner of investment management firm JANA and co-portfolio manager of JANA Strategic Investments, and Edwin “Mac” Crawford, former chairman of CVS Caremark Corp.

Two Class I directors were also re-elected: Dr. Massingale and Michael Snow, president and CEO of TeamHealth.
