St. Joseph Hospital in New Hampshire Lays Off 18

Nashua, N.H.-based St. Joseph Hospital has eliminated 54 positions, resulting in 18 layoffs, according to a report by The Telegraph.

Affected employees include registered nurses, licensed nurse assistants and back-office workers, according to the report.

The hospital has had fewer inpatient admissions, which led to the workforce reduction. "We're matching staffing patterns to volume of patients that we're seeing," Melissa Sears, vice president of strategy and business development at St. Joseph, told The Telegraph. "We're doing a better job of keeping people out of the hospital, with fewer inpatients."
