St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Illinois Ramps Up No-Smoking Policy

St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Ill., will institute a more robust anti-smoking policy starting Jan. 3, according to a Teutopolis Press-Dieterich Gazette report.

The hospital has had a no-smoking policy in place since 1993. Under that policy, employees, patients and visitors were prohibited from smoking inside the hospital and within 15 feet of all entrances. Under the new policy, the hospital prohibits smoking of any kind on all hospital property and facilities.

The hospital is offering smoking cessation support to interested employees.
