St. Anthony’s Medical Center CEO dies from cancer at 59

St. Louis-based St. Anthony’s Medical Center CEO David M. Sindelar passed away at the age of 59 years, according to a St. Louis Business Journal report. Mr. Sindelar was suffering from esophageal cancer.

Mr. Sindelar had served in his current role since 2015; however, he joined the medical center’s board of directors in 2002. He was also instrumental in the medical center’s recent affiliation agreement with St. Louis-based Mercy. His previous roles include serving as CEO of several portfolio companies, including St. Louis-based Viasystems Group and Camden, N.Y.-based International Wire Group.

“Dave was an incredible leader, a remarkable visionary and a humble servant,” said Kelly Wetzler, senior vice president of St. Anthony’s, according to the report. “Dave brought an impressive history of critical thinking and progressive business intellect to the St. Anthony’s family.”
