Mr. Cordova wrote Facebook posts in recent years accusing Khzir Khan, whose son served in the U.S. Army and died in action in 2004, of being a member of the Muslim Brotherhood and also tweeted a picture that compared members of the Black Lives Matter movement to Nazis. Among other conspiratorial posts, Mr. Cordova also shared unfounded material alleging Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, was engaged in a prostitution ring.
“Mr. Cordova is currently on administrative leave while we look into this issue further,” an HHS official said, according to CNN.
During the 2016 presidential race, Mr. Cordova served as a communications official in California for President Donald Trump’s campaign.
