Sen. Ted Cruz continues to push ACA repeal for 2018

Though many Republican leaders have moved on from plans to repeal the ACA, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, believes the GOP can still dismantle the legislation in 2018, according to The Hill.

Though GOP Congressional leaders reportedly did not discuss an ACA repeal at a strategy meeting at Camp David earlier this month, Mr. Cruz believes if they could secure the 50 Senate votes necessary to pass a repeal under budget reconciliation rules, leaders would consider the proposal.

"I don't think leadership is interested in going down this road again until we can get 50 votes and so we need to do the hard work of bringing the rest of the conference together," said Mr. Cruz, according to The Hill. "I think we're still quite close."

Republicans would only be able to pass a repeal with a simple majority under budget reconciliation rules, which could only be invoked if Congress approves a budget.
