Officials cited insufficient reimbursements from Medicaid and services to uninsured patients as major factors for why the facility will shut down, officially closing on April 27.

The center included emergency-trained physicians, rehab services and on-site lab diagnostics. To keep it open was not a financially viable option, according to a spokesperson.

Provena is a Catholic health system in Mokena, Ill.

Correction. A previous version of this article stated that the center was located in Elgin, IL. It’s actually located in Lake in the Hills, Ill. Provena’s St. Joseph Hospital is located in Elgin, Ill., and that will stay open. We apologize for the error.
