The proposed $135 million, six-story center would extend the Arizona Cancer Center’s presence into downtown Phoenix and is expected to create a significant number of jobs. The city’s contribution would be used for design and financing costs.
The center would be the first clinical center at the Biomedical Campus, which includes UA College of Medicine-Phoenix, the Translational Genomics Research Institute and the International Genomics Consortium, according to the report.
Construction on the center could begin as early as 2012.
The outpatient center would complement Arizona Cancer Center’s inpatient presence in the Phoenix market. In February, the Center announced plans to open a 30-bed inpatient unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix
