Prime Healthcare Services has announced significant staff reductions and major restructurings for its Alvarado Hospital in San Diego, which Prime acquired in November, according to a San Diego Union-Tribune report.

Ontario, Cali.-based Prime announced the layoffs but didn’t disclose how many employees would be cut. However, the number was large enough to require Prime to notify the state Employment Development Department, according to the report.

Prime also announced the restructuring of several programs and services to absorb a multi-million dollar loss in state and federal reimbursements.
