New York Insurance Department Fines Aetna $850K

Health insurance provider Aetna has been fined by the New York State Insurance Department for failing to comply with the state’s prompt pay requirements and improperly completing benefit forms, according to an Insurance Corner report.

The fine totals $850,000. New York State Insurance superintendent James Wrynn said medical bills must be clear so consumers understand the complication information, according to the report. Aetna is currently trying to correct its mistakes.
