The hospital had originally planned to open in March following a four-day state inspection, but inspectors determined a license would not be granted without a second inspection. The state did not provide a reason for the second inspection, according to a Press-Enterprise report.
The 106-bed hospital was intended to be a joint-venture between Loma Linda University Medical center and local physicians. However, the healthcare reform law passed last year barred the opening of new physician-owned hospitals after December. Loma Linda bought out the physicians’ interest in order to accept Medicare patients and provide care to “as many patients as possible,” according to a spokesperson for the hospital.
