Minnesota Hospitals Generate $27.2B in Economic Activity

A recent study by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development found that hospitals in Minnesota employed 8.3 percent of all workers in the state, or 214,108 employees, and generated $27.2 billion in economic activity in 2009, according to a report by the Minnesota Hospital Association.

The report, “Economic Impact of Minnesota Hospitals by Region in 2009” also found that the average hospital in Minnesota employs 264 people, with the largest hospitals employing more than 6,000 people and more than 25 percent employing over 750 staff.
