Ms. Hobson shared her admiration for National Football League quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who used his platform to draw attention to racial inequalities in the U.S. and said the business world could use a “corporate Kaepernick” who stood for the same values.
“I’ve never met Colin Kaepernick, but I will tell you he’s a hero of mine,” Ms. Hobson said, according to The New York Times. “I’m in awe of him because I believe he took it upon himself to publicly promote the American values of liberty and life that we all cherish.”
Ms. Hobson added she often hears executives say they are working on solving issues of diversity in their workplace, but said companies are not doing nearly enough to develop black leadership within their organizations.
