Meet CHS’ interim CEO, CFO

Tim Hingtgen, CEO of Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems, will retire Sept. 30 after serving as chief executive since 2021.

Following his retirement, CFO Kevin Hammons will serve as interim CEO and chief accounting officer Jason Johnson will serve as interim CFO.

Here is what to know about CHS’ incoming interim CEO and CFO:

Kevin Hammons

  • Mr. Hammons, 59, joined CHS in 1997 from Ernst & Young. 
  • He was promoted to assistant vice president of financial reporting in 2002 and was later named vice president. 
  • He was promoted to vice president and chief accounting officer in 2012 and was later named senior vice president.
  • He added assistant CFO to his title in 2017. 
  • He served as treasurer from 2018 through 2019. 
  • He has served as CFO since January 2020. He first served in the role as executive vice president and was promoted to president in February 2021. 

Jason Johnson

  • Mr. Johnson, 50, joined CHS in 2012 as vice president and assistant corporate controller. He joined the system from Deloitte & Touche. He also previously served as controller of an alternative energy marketing and distribution company.
  • He was promoted to vice president and chief accounting officer in 2019 and was later named senior vice president. 
  • He will continue serving as chief accounting officer while serving as interim CFO.
