Here are four things to know about the potential layoffs.
1. According to the report, McLaren sent layoff notices to 89 employees, including:
- 30 employees at Ballenger Village in Flint Township
- 17 employees at McLaren Greater Lansing (Mich.)
- Six employees at McLaren Central Michigan in Mount Pleasant, Mich.
- 22 employees at McLaren Bay Region in Bay City, Mich.
- Nine employees at KerryStreetBuilding in Lansing
2. The layoff notices come as McLaren, which oversees operations across 12 hospitals, is moving its system billing operations to a single location in ShelbyTownship, Mich.
3. According to the report, the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act requires certain employers to give advance notice of significant layoffs to employees and others, but the notice doesn’t necessarily mean McLaren will lay off workers.
4. All of the employees will be offered a position at McLaren’s ShelbyTownship location, according to The Flint Journal, which cites the layoff notice.
