AFSCME and Jackson have been unable to agree on contract terms for some time. Jackson recently signed agreements with another major union representing the system’s employees. In February, Jackson and the SEIU, representing Jackson’s nurses and other clinicians, agreed to a new contract that included an end to furlough days for the workers, according to the report.
