Hospital in Pennsylvania Undergoes $529M Expansion

The 331-bed Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood, Pa., is undergoing a $529 million expansion and renovation project that includes a five-story, 96-bed pavilion as well as a parking structure, according to a Philadelphia Inquirer report.

The hospital's umbrella organization, Main Line Health, will pay for most of the work with reserves and cash flow. In the end, the project will require only $30 million in debt, according to a Lankenau executive cited in the report.

The project is meant to help the hospital attract patients and operate more efficiently. An executive said the building was aging and in need of new technology. Groundbreaking is set for late this week.
