Former Ethiopia hospital CEO named to lead Global Center for Women’s Health

Lia Tadesse, MD, a former hospital CEO in Ethiopia, has been named executive director of the Center for International Reproductive Health Training at Ann Arbor-based University of Michigan Health System.

CIRHT was launched in 2014 and is based in the department of obstetrics and gynecology. The center is currently working to integrate reproductive health training in nine medical schools in Ethiopia. The program involves nearly 6,000 medical students and interns along with 266 OB-GYN residents and 57 faculty members.

Prior to coming to U-M Health System, Dr. Tadesse served as CEO of St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 2007 to 2010. St. Paul’s Hospital was the first site to participate in the CIRHT program.
