CMS Awards $814K in Pay-for-Performance to 9 North Shore-LIJ Hospitals

CMS has awarded nine North Shore-LIJ Health System hospitals more than $814,000 through its national pay-for-performance Hospital Quality Incentive Demonstration project, according to a system news release.

North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, N.Y., earned nearly $163,000, the eighth highest total of 225 participating hospitals nationwide.

The HQID uses 30 evidence-based clinical quality measures and awards financial incentives for achievement in six clinical areas. For hospitals participating in the project, the average Composite Quality Score, an aggregate of all process and outcomes measures within each clinical area, improved by 18.3 percent over the project’s first five years.
