Citations May Force Closure of Idaho’s Harms Memorial Hospital

Harms Memorial Hospital in American Falls, Idaho, has until Aug. 3 to make improvements on citations from Idaho Department of Health and Welfare surveys over the last several months or it could risk losing Medicare and Medicaid payments, according to a report by KIDK.

Harms received citations on several administrative errors, including filing incomplete orders and using outdated cleaning procedures. As a result of the citations, Harms has implemented 18 new hospital policies, changed medical staff bylaws and held meetings for training new procedures and policies.

If the hospital loses its Medicaid and Medicare payments, it will be forced to close its doors permanently. The hospital is nearing its 50 year anniversary.
