Here are three things to know about Ms. Distefano.

1. She has served as the CEO of 308-bed Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital since 2011. As CEO, she oversees operations for the hospital and women’s services, and is responsible for setting the strategic direction to ensure growth, quality and operational excellence, as well as patient, employee and physician satisfaction.

2. This leadership experience at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, in collaboration with children’s hospitals across the nation, makes Ms. Distefano an ideal candidate for the board, officials said.

3. “I welcome Susie Distefano to our board as a national leader in children’s healthcare,” Steve Allen, MD, incoming chairman of the CHA Board of Trustees and CEO of Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, said in a prepared statement. “Her perspectives and contributions will be an asset to our team as we continue our work collaboratively as an industry to improve care, enhance the patient and family experience and lower the cost of care for pediatric patients across the country.”
