Mr. Smith — who succeeded Blount Memorial’s retired CFO David Avriett — oversees the hospital’s management of finances at the administrative level. Previously, he served as vice president of operations and finance for Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine, N.C., for 14 years. He also held other positions with Blue Ridge, including CFO, controller and management information system director.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in business administration, both from Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville. Additionally, he earned a master’s degree in public health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
